Julie has landed

It’s 9.30am on a Monday in Hong Kong. I arrived late last night and was surprised just how cool it was for June having prepared myself for lots of sweating and copious mosquitoes to try and fight off.

There’s a cool breeze and only one mosquito in sight. Apparently it’s the coolest June in almost 100 years? Very odd anyway, but I’m not complaining!!

The flight from Manchester to Dubai was hard work as the seats were unusually high and my little legs couldn’t reach the floor which meant the blood wasn’t flowing properly and my legs kept going numb; there were no foot rests, why did they remove them?! Suffice to say I didn’t sleep a wink on this journey.

Dubai to Manchester Hong Kong was much better, mainly because I was so nackered I had a good kip. Two hours left into the flight, I asked the Chinese guy sat next to me if I could have his chocolate muffin that he left on his tray, as I opted out of the chicken sandwich ‘lunch’ snack with it being so late in the evening. He seemed happy I spoke Cantonese and proceeded to tell me about his wife and daughter and how they’d spent a fortnight travelling all over Italy.

I was pleased he thought I was a Hong Kong local as I thought my Catonese speaking skills were lacking somewhat, but he said it sounded very fluent. Hehe.

I’m all clean and showered now, just having some breakfast of shredded pork congee with a side serving of ginger and spring onions, and steamed rice rolls covered in soya sauce and peanut butter. Oh my days, it’s very good.

HK’s the ultimate place for electronics/gadgets and Rolex’s. A stainless steel ladies Rolex Perpetual in the UK costs £2,600 – you can get the same watch in white gold for the same price in HK! I’ll find out the price of the iPad and let you know!

  11. Alan Charnock says:

How many watches are you bringing back? lol.
