The new year usually brings with it new resolutions – they tend to be health and fitness focused, but as I have an upcoming weightlifting competition, have had to maintain a relatively healthy diet and train throughout the festive period. The dedication saw me training three times on my five day trip to Norway in fact.
I also believe that if one is committed to making positive changes in one’s life, you must simply make the decision and just do it. There is no requirement for an arbitrary date to start being a better you. Just do it 🙂 however, I can see how a set date can act as a prompt to kick start positive habits which in turn should hopefully lead to a more permanent, healthier lifestyle for many.
Despite my weightlifting endeavours, there are a few fitness goals I’d like to set myself in January for the rest of the year. Firstly, I’d like to lose a couple of kilos and maintain my weight at around 54kg (currently floating around 55-56kg..), reduce my bodyfat % to 21% from around 24% – this would mean a stricter diet and even fewer sweets 🙁
I’m also keen to finally hit a 60kg snatch, which should be achievable providing I stay injury free. I’d been injured for almost half of 2016 and only started training properly around mid October so still building up my strength, but so far so good.
Strength wise, I’d love to add 10 kilos to my back squat and front squat, bringing them up to 110kg and 100kg respectively.
Regardless, fitness challenges would not be fun without some pretty outfits! And courtesy of Debenhams fitnesswear range, I present to you my first selection, consisting of a pair of navy Lorna Jane tights, blue Lorna Jane sports bra, sports socks, and a lovely pair of Clarks black Tri Abby trainers.
This is my first experience with Lorna Jane fitnesswear and I can genuinely say they are superb quality and fit incredibly well. The tights in particular are really supportive without being too tight.
In addition to my new fitnesswear, I’m trialing the fitbit Blaze (pictured above) which I’m loving so far, especially the daily charts that track my heart rate and sleeping patterns. I will likely write a review of the fitbit in the near future.
January will see a further two New Year Challenges posts, pt 2 and pt 3 featuring new outfits, so keep your eyes peeled 🙂
