It’s been a few days since I last wrote a post. I’ve been ill with a nasty cold, but recovering at home with my blanket and mug of redbush tea.
I read some articles about the future of SEO and whether or not it is the end of the road for search engine optimisation. The general consensus amongst some online tecchies is that SEO will be dead within a few years.
According to learntoduck.com
The act of SEO – adjusting the code and content of a website with the primary purpose to be ranked highly in search results, is on its way out.
Of course, all SEOs know that on-page optimisation plays a relatively minor role in the entire SEO campaign of a website, but it is still important nonetheless. To say that it is on its way out though, is just daft. It just evolves.
I believe on-page optimisation is more important than ever, with the old adage ‘content is king’ mattering more so now. As search engines get smarter and wiser to the SEO efforts being put into helping sites gain better exposure in the SERPs, more emphasis needs to be placed on content being as natural and relevant as possible.
With the gradual roll out of Google Caffeine, it is evident that the search engine’s algorithms places more importance on the user, and serving them with the most relevant and accurate results is their top priority.
This means making sure the content on your site is unique, fresh and targeted with the relevant keywords without appearing spammy; natural is the key, the content has to flow. Also, with decent, genuine and useful content on your site, you will gain backlinks naturally.
As the web evolves, so too does SEO. Social media is growing exponentially, so incorporating SMO with SEO can only be of benefit. It will strengthen your SEO efforts, and the likes of Twitter and Facebook will not only drive more traffic to your site but will help in building brand awareness, which is a must in this day and age where maximum exposure is paramount.
SEO is such a dynamic force, ever changing and one of the reasons why I enjoy being in the industry.
My thought SEO is dead!! their are alot of cow boys out there that are happy to take your money and say they will get you to the top of Google but we all no that is not true isn’t that right Julie.
I’m sure you work for an SEO company and are noticing the changes more to wards social and viral marketing in my opinion SEO will be around for another 3-5 years at the most.
Your site looks good how ever you are not ranking for anything are you doing black hat, new site loads of pages and links not natural if you ask me Julie.
A great post and I agree fully about SEO constantly evolving. Content is definately king and links are queen. Behind every strong man is a stronger woman or so they say. So yes, on-page is important but its just a minor factor. No matter how well the page is optimised if its a competative market it still won’t take a top ranking. SEO won’t die, it just adapts. But the core process of authorative links getting you rankings has remained the same for a long time already. I can’t see Google changing that aspect of its algorythm anytime soon.
Who said anything about SEO being dead? It’s alive and kicking!
BTW, I saw this blog after I accepted your friend request from Facebook and found out that you got a blog too. Now that’s online marketing right there :)
