I don’t know about you, but I’m one of those people who regularly forget where they parked their car. For example, only a few weeks ago (when I was attending a Google Adwords course in Manchester) I spent forever running up and down a multi storey car park at lunch trying to find my car. It got to the point where I’d convinced myself it had been stolen, alerted the guard who also joined me running around in search for my missing motor. For about half an hour. Turned out it was parked near the entrance :/
Which is why I believe/hope the Wistiki (the European site) is the answer to my eternal car search woes. It’s a cool little bluetooth enabled keyring which you connect to the Wistiki app on your phone and once set up (it’s very straight forward and quick), you are ready to go.
There are 3 versions: the Voila! (attached to my car and house keys above for reference), the Aha! (circular and much smaller, ideal for pets maybe?) and the Hopla! (flat credit card shaped suitable for wallets) – the latter two only available for pre-order at the time of writing.
The Wistiki can be detected up to an impressive 100 metres away, but what I find particularly nifty is the hot/cold radar on the app that lets you know how close or far away you are from the keyring with a visual distance gauge. If it happens to be jammed under your sofa, or if attached to your cat, you’ll know exactly in which nook it is hiding in if the adorable melody (at 90 decibels) isn’t enough.
It also works the other way – if you’ve misplaced your phone and have your Wistiki to hand, give it a little press and your phone will play the same melody, even if it’s in silent mode.
I’ve left the Wistiki in the glovebox of my car now – it has a lifespan of 3 years and I’m now reassured that if I ever happen to misplace my car again (extremely likely), I’ll have no trouble finding it ^_^
Retailing at €49.90EUR, it’s just a little over £40 with free shipping, and sweet packaging it would make an ideal and practical Christmas gift for a parent, spouse, sibling or friends. Get at it!
